Low on Energy? You May Have Sleep Apnea
April 27, 2018Replace Your Metal Fillings with White Fillings
May 11, 2018Have you ever seen yourself in a picture and thought, “Is it possible to upgrade my smile?” If so–know that you are not alone, and yes, you can! Many people have always wanted to fix their smile, but don’t know that easy and accessible treatments are available. Even if you love the teeth you were born with, years of hard usage can age your smile; chips, dents, stains, and enamel erosion can make your teeth look old and haggard.
Luckily, cosmetic dentistry has a secret weapon. In just two office visits, you can have a brand-new smile with dental veneers. Grant Park dentist Dr. Abbey Lee can help you love your smile again, with a full set of porcelain veneers.
What Are Dental Veneers?
Veneers are wafer-thin shells of dental ceramic that mimic the appearance of natural tooth enamel. When these shells are bonded to the teeth, they provide a flawless new surface that looks natural when you smile.
Veneers are as strong and durable as tooth enamel, so you can depend on them to stay secure for the long haul. Thanks to advanced fabrication technology, strong doesn’t have to mean “big.” All dental veneers are extremely thin and Lumineers® veneers, in particular, are no thicker than a contact lens. The best part about veneers is that you can design them to meet your aesthetic preferences. You decide what your new smile will look like.
Have you ever wished for:
- Your gaps to be closed?
- Teeth that are more consistent in their size and shape?
- Front teeth that look less square in shape?
- Whiter and brighter teeth that don’t require constant whitening treatments?
- Canines that aren’t so pointy?
- A more even and symmetrical smile (that doesn’t resemble a bar graph)?
Veneers can correct virtually any aspect of your teeth’s appearance. Even crooked teeth can be made to look straighter with the right combination of size and shape. If you’ve ever noticed your favorite actor or musician suddenly seem to have a new set of teeth, they’ve probably gotten veneers. To see what dental veneers can accomplish, do a search of “celebrity veneers” and you’ll see some amazing transformations!
Dental Veneers: A Versatile Tool
Perhaps the best part about veneers is that they are a flexible cosmetic enhancement. If you are already mostly happy with your natural smile, you can opt for conservative use of veneers to target the flaws that bother you. For example, it only takes two veneers to correct lateral incisors. If you have a chip or intrinsic stain on just one tooth, you may only need a single veneer to correct it.
Ultimately the choice yours. When you meet with Dr. Lee for a consultation, you will have the chance to explain what you would like to change in your smile. With our advanced tools, we can take a scan of your smile and show you what different customized effects will look like. When you are happy with the projected results we will begin the procedure.
Can Anyone Get Grant Park Dental Veneers?
Anyone whose teeth are in a good state of oral health can be a candidate for veneers. Your teeth will need to be cavity-free and have enough enamel to support the veneers. Your gum health will also be taken into consideration. If you have signs of tooth decay or gum disease, this doesn’t mean you can’t get veneers, but you will need other treatments first. If this is the case, Dr. Lee will create a treatment plan for restoring your teeth and gums to a state of good health before veneers can be considered.
How it Works
Once you decide to go forward with Grant Park dental veneers, three things will happen.
- We prep the teeth for veneers.
- A dental impression is taken and sent to the laboratory where the veneers will be made.
- Temporary veneers will be given to protect the teeth until your permanent veneers are ready.
It’s important to note that dental veneers are a permanent alteration of your smile. This means that once you choose to get veneers, you cannot go back to not having them. Why is this? In order to create a permanent bond, a small amount of tooth enamel must be resurfaced. This ensures the veneers won’t ever come loose and they’ll stay securely attached for the duration of their lifespan. With proper care and use, veneers can last up to decades before they start to need repair.
