Common Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments to Achieve a Straighter Smile

What kind of smile do you see staring back at you when you glance in the mirror? Do you notice overlapping, crooked, protruding, or unevenly spaced teeth? Many adults today who underwent orthodontic treatment as a teenager find that their teeth have failed to stay in place. Shifting teeth can be the result of tooth extractions, failure to wear retainers, or even the natural progression of age.

No matter the cause of your dental misalignment, Grant Park cosmetic dentist Dr. Abby Lee provides a host of cosmetic dentistry treatments to improve your smile and boost your self-confidence. To schedule your consultation, contact our Atlanta, GA office online or give us a call at 404.328.7177.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are custom-made to cover teeth that slightly protrude or are misaligned. This cosmetic dentistry procedure can also brighten teeth that are stained and have failed to respond to professional teeth whitening. Each shell will be formatted to resemble the natural shape, size, and color of your teeth so you can enjoy natural-looking results. In order to produce a seamless fit, a small amount of enamel will be removed from the front surface of your teeth. Because of this, porcelain veneers are considered an irreversible treatment.

Dental Bonding

If you are looking for a more affordable and faster alternative to porcelain veneers, dental bonding is the way go. This cosmetic dentistry treatment uses composite resin to cover teeth that are slightly gapped, crooked, or misaligned. The composite resin will be tinted to match the natural shade of your teeth to reveal realistic results. Dr. Lee can provide this treatment in just one office visit, providing an immediate transformation.

If you desire to maintain your natural teeth, we provide Invisalign®. This orthodontic treatment uses a series of clear aligner trays to straighten teeth. The number of trays required will depend on the severity of your misalignment. Many adults and teenagers find this treatment beneficial for its discreetness. Because trays are removable, patients are also able to enjoy all their favorite foods without fear of damaging brackets or wires. Your aligners will fit comfortably over your top and bottom teeth and should be worn at least 22 hours a day. Every two weeks you will move up to the next tray in the series. As long as trays are worn as directed, the overall treatment can generally be completed in about 12 to 15 months.

Six Month Smiles®

Although not as discreet as Invisalign®, Six Month Smiles® provides the same great results in a shorter amount of time. This orthodontic solution uses clear brackets and tooth-colored wires to gradually shift teeth into proper position. Every four weeks, Dr. Lee will tighten your wires to apply pressure so teeth naturally straighten. Depending on the severity of misalignment, patients can enjoy a straighter and healthier-looking smile in six to nine months.

Snap-on Smile®

For patients who do not want to alter than teeth in any way, but desire a straighter smile, we offer Snap-on Smile®. This non-invasive cosmetic dentistry solution provides a dental appliance made of composite resin that simply slips over your teeth much like an Invisalign® aligner. It will be color-matched and designed to blend with the aesthetics of your teeth to provide realistic, naturally enhanced results. Your Snap-on Smile® can be worn while you eat, drink, and perform normal daily activities. It should, however, be removed for cleaning and at night while sleeping.
